Shanghai Sharks (CBA) re-signed 31-year old American 196cm shooting guard Jamaal Franklin (college: SDSU), agency: Slash Sports for new season. Franklin joins another USA player Melo Trimble who is already in the roster.
He was a team leader there last season. In 40 CBA games he averaged impressive 15.9ppg, 6.8rpg, 7.5apg and 1.2spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. It was a very successful season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com Chinese CBA All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week (3 times).
He was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention in 2015, 2016 and 2020.
The previous (2020-21) season he played at Loongs where in 18 CBA games he had very remarkable stats: 24.8ppg, 8.2rpg, 9.4apg and 1.3spg in that year. Good season as he was also here voted League Player of the Week (2 times).
In 2013 he was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) in second round (41st overall). He graduated from San Diego State University and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
He is a very experienced player. Franklin has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to five different countries on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Puerto Rico (Brujos), NBA (Denver Nuggets), China (Guandong Tigers, Blue Whales and Guangsha Lions), NBA G League (South Bay Lakers and Fort Wayne Mad Ants) and NBA Summer League (Toronto Raptors).
