Guangdong Southern Tigers clinched CBA title. They edged Liaoning Flying Leopards in the decisive third game of the championship series. The victory marked the 11th overall CBA triumph for the Southern Tigers. Guandong Tigers made 36-of-46 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game, while Flying Leopards only scored twenty points from the stripe. They outrebounded Flying Leopards 53-42 including 18 on the offensive glass. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 35 personal fouls committed by Flying Leopards helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. The international Rui Zhao (196-96) contributed with 15 points and 8 assists, while Mingxuan Hu added 19 points. Mingxuan Hu was trumped the MVP. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers’ coach Feng Du used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Ailun Guo (188-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 assists and the former international center Hao Fu (206-97) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Flying Leopards.
