Shougang Beijing Ducks (CBA) tabbed 29-year old American ex-international 191cm guard Nick Johnson (college: Arizona) for new season. Johnson played most recently at Nanterre 92 in French Betclic ELITE ProA. In 30 games he averaged 13.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.8apg and 1.2spg last season. He can count that year as a very successful as was voted to All-French ProA Honorable Mention, All-Star Game and League Player of the Week (3 times).
Johnson played in the final of Pac-12 Tournament in 2012 and 2014.
The previous (2020-21) season he played at Turk Telekom in Turkish BSL where in 25 games he had 13.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 5.7apg and 1.5spg in that year. Good season as he was also here selected League Player of the Week. He also played 10 games in Basketball Champions League where he recorded 14.2ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.8apg and 1.4spg in that year.
In 2014 he was drafted by Houston Rockets (NBA) in second round (42nd overall). The former University of Arizona star is in his ninth season in pro basketball. Johnson was a member of USA Senior National Team in 2018.
He is a very experienced player. Johnson has played also professionally in Germany (Bayern Muenchen), NBA (Denver Nuggets and Orlando Magic), NBA G League (Austin Spurs, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Wisconsin Herd) and The Basketball Tournament (Money Team).
Among many awards he received USBWA All-District IX Player of the Year award and was voted to Pac-12 All-Defensive Team back in 2014.
