American Dezmine Wells (196-G-92) had a great game in the last round for Jiangsu D. and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 49.
The 28-year old guard had the game-high 54 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Jiangsu D. as his team lost the game against Tianjin (#16, 10-36) 119-124. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Jiangsu D. maintains the 18th position in Chinese CBA. The season is in a full swing, so it’s only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Jiangsu D. have already lost 38 games and recorded just eight victories. In the team’s last game Wells had a remarkable 56.5% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Jiangsu D.’s top player in his first season with the team. University of Maryland graduate has very impressive stats this year. Wells is in league’s top in points (3rd best: 30.2ppg) and averages solid 50.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 30-year old American center Arnett Moultrie (208-C-90) of Nanjing TX MK. Moultrie impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Nanjing TX MK lost that game 109-124 to the higher-ranked Guangzhou LL (#14, 20-26). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Nanjing TX MK is still at the dead bottom 19th position. 39 lost games are too many comparing to just seven victories Nanjing TX MK managed to get this year. Moultrie is a newcomer at Nanjing TX MK and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Iranian Hamed Haddadi (218-C-85, agency: BIG) of Sichuan BW (#8). Haddadi showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, seventeen rebounds (!!!) and seven assists in the last round. He was a key player of Sichuan BW, leading his team to a 94-80 easy win against the lower-ranked Shanxi L. (#15, 17-27). Sichuan BW needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 25 victories and 21 lost games. Haddadi has a great season in China. After 37 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 13.7rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.7bpg and FGP: 57.3%.
