The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Golden Bulls (2-1) in Dongguan on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Guandong Tigers (3-0) 110-94. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Golden Bulls’ 36. Guandong Tigers forced 19 Golden Bulls turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guandong Tigers made 9 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Golden Bulls helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international Rui Zhao (196-96) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international JunFei Ren (203-90) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Xuhang Zhu (206-93) with 31 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. The game in Guangzhou was also worth to mention about. Royal Fighters (1-2) played at the court of Long-Lions (2-1). Long-Lions managed to secure a 4-point victory 102-98. It was an exceptional evening for Taiwanese point guard Ying-Chun Chen (182-93, college: Liberty) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists. Mingzhen Zhu accounted for 18 points. Zhang Fan (194-96) came up with 20 points and 6 assists for Royal Fighters in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Long-Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Royal Fighters will play at home against Flying Tigers (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Blue Whales (0-2) were outscored at home by Sharks (2-0) with the biggest margin this round 118-84 on Wednesday night. The best player for the winners was Jamaal Franklin who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 17 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Chen Chen who recorded 27 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks will meet Ducks (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Blue Whales will play against Sturgeons (#10) in Jinjiang and hope to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 3: Guangsha L. won against Nanjing TX MK on the opponent’s court 108-90. Bottom-ranked Tianjin managed to outperform Qingdao E. in a home game 91-79. Shanxi L. managed to beat Xinjiang FT on the road 112-97. Liaoning FL defeated Jilin NE T. on its own court 103-88. Winless Jiangsu D. was smashed by Shenzhen A. in a road game 107-85.

Nanjing TX MK – Guangsha L. 90-108

Very expected game in Jiangsu where Monkey Kings (0-2) were defeated by Guangsha Lions (2-0) 108-90 on Wednesday. Guangsha Lions made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Guangsha Lions outrebounded Monkey Kings 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guangsha Lions made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international Yanhao Zhao (194-97) who scored 29 points. The game in Guangzhou was also worth to mention about. Royal Fighters (1-2) played at the court of Long-Lions (2-1). Long-Lions managed to secure a 4-point victory 102-98.
