Guangdong held off Shandong in the semifinal opener. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Heroes’ 44 and made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers forced 22 Heroes turnovers and outrebounded them 55-40 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Heroes were plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international JunFei Ren (203-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international Rui Zhao (196-96) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard ShiYan Gao (186-96) responded with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: UT Martin) scored 27 points and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

Liaoning knocked down Zhejiang GB to take the lead. Flying Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Golden Bulls’ 52 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Golden Bulls 48-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flying Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Ailun Guo (188-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. The former international point guard Jiwei Zhao (185-95) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Forward Xuhang Zhu (206-93) answered with 27 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Qian Wu (188-94) added 18 points and 9 assists in the effort for Golden Bulls. Five Flying Leopards and four Golden Bulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
