Yi is recuperating from a heel tendon injury with the Washington Wizards this past year. Yi started training with the team on July 20 and will look to get himself back into full motion during the Stankovic Cup.

The Stankovic Cup has two stops beginning in Haining and ending in Guangzhou. Defending champions Austrlia, who field their second-string team, Russia, who will take part in the Shenzheng World Universiade, and Angola joined the home team in the Haining leg from Aug. 1-4. New Zealand will replace Australia to join Russia, Angola and China to play in Guangzhou from Aug. 6-9.
